Attention 10th & 11th Grade High School Students Living in NYCHA:
Join The Met-NYCHA Art & Culture Scholars Program

The Met-NYCHA Art & Culture Scholars Program is a new and exciting 40-hour paid leadership development program exposing young people to art and culture and to careers at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met)! The program launches in January 2024 and interns will participate approximately 2 to 4 hours per week from February to June 2024.

Who can apply:

  • Residents of NYCHA only.

  • Enrolled in high school and in grades 10 or 11.

  • Commit to the full 40-hour program at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10028 (at East 82nd Street).

Program Benefits:

  • Learn leadership development skills alongside peers and mentors.

  • Work with professionals and experience The Met’s space and exhibitions.

  • Explore career pathways in the world of art, culture and museums, and build your resume.

  • Earn an $1,100 stipend.

  • Food and transportation support included!

  • Receive a 1-year family pass to The Met upon completion of the program.

Tentative Program Schedule:

  • In person orientation & family reception: January 13, 2024

  • Program start date: January 27, 2024 (tentative)

  • Program duration: February to June, 2024

  • Culmination event: June 14, 2024
