Art x Civic Engagement Panel
The Intersection of Activism and Artmaking

Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Fifth Avenue Committee – Community Room
621 Degraw Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217

The Public Housing Community Fund invites you to an engaging and thought-provoking panel exploring the intersection of art and civic life.

Artists today are not only creators — they are storytellers, organizers, and civic actors. This conversation will examine how artists engage with public housing communities, activism, and cultural storytelling to shape public narratives and drive meaningful community impact.

The panel will also reflect on The Village People, an exhibition that asks who and what makes a city a city. Through discussions of housing inequity, policing, development, mutual aid, and cultural identity, the exhibition positions art as both a mirror to the systems that shape urban life and an active civic practice that invites collective responsibility and shared accountability.
