Citywide Participatory Budgeting

The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) is excited to launch the second cycle of The People’s Money 2023/24 participatory budgeting process! All New Yorkers age 11 and up will be able to decide how to spend part of the city’s budget. Last year, the CEC ran this process for the first time in NYC history, inviting thousands of residents to submit ideas and ultimately vote on programs for their communities. Many thanks to all of the NYCHA leaders and residents who participated in 2022-23. See the funded programs from Cycle 1!

The Public Housing Community Fund in partnership with NYCHA and the CEC are kicking off Cycle 2 with Phase 1: Idea Generation. From October 10th to November 19th residents can submit ideas for projects to address community needs. Ideas can be submitted online via participate.nyc.gov or in-person at an idea generation session near you.

The Fund supported Phase 1 of The People’s Money - Idea Generation, which ran from Tuesday, October 10, 2023 to Sunday, November 19, 2023. During this phase, NYCHA residents from across the city provided ideas at workshops across all five boroughs.

The voting phase began on May 1, 2024. Check back soon for details on how you can vote and participate in The People’s Money.
