NYCHA Oral Histories PROJECT
In the spring of 2026, the Public Housing Community Fund launched the Oral Histories Initiative as part of the Revitalizing NYCHA’s Archives Program to reinsert NYCHA residents' voices into larger narratives around New York City’s diverse residential makeup. We interview residents from across New York City to preserve their narratives and memories about public housing in the NYCHA Collection at LaGuardia and Wagner Archives. Led by Saijah Williams, Oral Historian and Digital Storytelling Lead, this oral history initiative serves as both a community practice and a tool for preservation, public memory, and community building in the New York City Housing Authority.
Submit a form below to express interest in being interviewed or submitting a self-interview for the oral history project!
